FLINT. On November 15, 2011, at 11:30pm, a family member called the Michigan State Police (MSP) Flint Post to report that their 20-year-old daughter was missing from her home near Otisville in Genesee County.
The family member explained that the missing woman was house-sitting at a relative’s home on Kings Mills Road in Mayfield Township in Lapeer County.
Troopers from the Lapeer Post were dispatched to the residence in an attempt to locate the missing woman, but did not make contact with anyone at the home.
At approximately 2:30 am, a call was made to Lapeer County 911 Center to report that the missing woman’s car was found in a parking lot at the Lapeer State Game Area on Five Lakes Road, not far from where the woman was house-sitting.
Troopers secured the area and requested a K-9 tracking dog and MSP aviation support to search the area.
At approximately 4:30am, troopers made entry into the Kings Mills Road residence and found the missing 20-year-old woman deceased.
This suspicious death and missing persons report is being investigated by detectives from the Flint and Lapeer Posts, with the assistance of the MSP Bridgeport Crime Lab and Lapeer County Prosecutor Byron Konschuh.

As a result of the storms yesterday, portions of the Imlay City area in Lapeer County are currently without power. This, coupled with the extreme heat, have caused us to open COOLING CENTERS in the Eastern part of our County. Please advise our residents should they need to seek shelter from the heat, the following locations will be open to help them:
St. Paul Lutheran Church, 200 N. Cedar Street, Imlay City (Monday–Friday 10:30am – 9:00pm)
Almont Lions, Water Street, Almont (Monday–Friday 10:30am – 9:00pm)
Imlay City Senior Center 395 E. Third Street, Imlay City – until 5:00pm today
Please note that these centers will only be providing a cool and comfortably place to go – the most they may have available to residents would be water.
We will be monitoring the status of the power outage, as well any calls we may get from other parts of the county to see if additional centers need to be opened. - Weapons concealment – 5 years
- Stolen property – 5 years
- Obstruction of justice – 5 years
- Possession of a firearm by a felon – 5 years
- Felony firearm – 2 years
- Habitual offender (4th) – up to life
