Updated Press Release: Injury Traffic Crash



On Wednesday 02-12-2014, Donald Tuscok (passenger) died at McLaren- Lapeer Region from injuries sustained in this traffic crash.   Joshua Taylor has been released from McLaren- Lapeer Region.  

The investigation will be presented to the Lapeer County Prosecutor’s Office once complete. 

Sheriffs LogoOn Friday 02-07-2014 at 2:03 AM, Lapeer County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a one vehicle roll over injury traffic crash on Van Dyke (M-53) near Caldwell Road in Imlay City.   Callers reported that the vehicle had two occupants and entrapment was associated. Imlay City Fire Rescue and Goodland Township Fire Department responded for extrication.

JOSHUA TAYLOR age 24 from ImlayCity was driving a 2005 Volkswagen Jetta south bound on Van Dyke Road.   North of the Caldwell Road intersection, TAYLOR transitioned over the west gravel shoulder into the snowy ditch.  TAYLOR continued for a distance before striking a snow embankment/culvert near the intersection which resulted in the vehicle becoming airborne.  Upon returning to the ground, the vehicle rolled striking a street light and tree before coming to rest on its side.

DONALD TUSCOK age 30 from Leonard was the front seat passenger.  Imlay City Police Officers Tim Wolford and Dave Rock were the first to arrive and discovered TUSCOK not breathing.  Life saving efforts was started and TUSCOK was transported to McLaren- Lapeer Region.   TUSCOK remains listed in serious condition with life threatening injuries.

TAYLOR was transported to McLaren- Lapeer Region for non-life threatening injuries.

The roadway was restricted for approximately three hours for rescue and investigative purposes. The Lapeer County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by Imlay City Police Department,  Imlay City Fire and Rescue, and Goodland Township Fire Department.

Preliminary investigation indicates that alcohol and speed maybe contributing factors with the traffic crash remaining under investigation by the Lapeer County Sheriff’s Office.   If anyone has information, please contact Detective Sgt. Jason Parks at 810-245-1381.
