From the Lapeer County Emergency Management Office:
July 19, 2011 11:30am
As a result of the storms yesterday, portions of the Imlay City area in Lapeer County are currently without power. This, coupled with the extreme heat, have caused us to open COOLING CENTERS in the Eastern part of our County. Please advise our residents should they need to seek shelter from the heat, the following locations will be open to help them:
St. Paul Lutheran Church, 200 N. Cedar Street, Imlay City (Monday–Friday 10:30am – 9:00pm)
Almont Lions, Water Street, Almont (Monday–Friday 10:30am – 9:00pm)
Imlay City Senior Center 395 E. Third Street, Imlay City – until 5:00pm today
Please note that these centers will only be providing a cool and comfortably place to go – the most they may have available to residents would be water.
We will be monitoring the status of the power outage, as well any calls we may get from other parts of the county to see if additional centers need to be opened. We have asked the American Red Cross to be on standby should we need to open more centers. If you need any additional information, please contact me at 810-667-0242. Thank you for your time.
